Genre: End Credits

Client: Michael Banks for the Museum of Broadcasting

Description: These are the end credits for a series of productions called Media Management Conversations. Produced by Michael Banks for the Museum of Broadcasting in Los Angeles the shows focus on interviews with media professionals.

Notes: The goal here was to craft an interesting set of end credits that integrated the look and feel of the opening title sequence and music track. The flickering lighting and camera sound effect are used to convey the feeling of an old film experience.

Text Blowing Away

Genre: Text Effects | "Up Next"

Client: Self-Promotional

Description: Finding interesting ways to transition from one typographic element into another can be alot of fun. This one is intended to be used as a segway into a video clip.

Notes:This is a take on a classic effect of text that blows away like sand or explodes. I like this type of effect because it establishes a clear sense of directional movement and can be used to lead into many compositional elements.

Text Scatterizing

Genre: Text Effects | "Coming Soon"

Client: Self-Promotional

Description: Two goals I have are to create a sense of depth and texture in my work. This is a quick text experiment that could easily be integrated into a wide variety of projects.

Notes: I have had the pleasure of mentoring several young artists over my career. A former student of mine Jabari Clark used a particle system to craft a similar text effect in one of his self-promotional pieces for his reel. The problem that he ran into was how to transition in and out of the explosion effect. I think I have come up with a good solution here. By using the classic cross dissolve where one text effect gives way to the other and blend of multiple effects can be achieved.
